The Milwaukee Brewers are working to finalize a deal to acquire catcher Danny Jansen from the Tampa Bay Rays, sources tell ESPN.

The Rays will receive INF Jadher Areinamo (Milwaukee's No. 24 prospect) for Jansen, per source. Tampa Bay will also send some money to Milwaukee to pay down part of Jansen's salary.

But here’s the complicated part.
Rays in discussions to acquire catcher Nick Fortes from Marlins, sources tell @TheAthletic. Fortes, 28, would replace Danny Jansen. Earning $1.86M this season, with three years of arbitration remaining.

The Rays shipped away Jansen, only to acquire Fortes minutes later.
The Rays are acquiring C Nick Fortes from the Marlins for OF Matthew Etzel (Rays No. 28 prospect), per source. Fortes replaces Danny Jansen (traded to Brewers) and is under control through 2028.
