What I Saw From the #67 Ranked Draft Prospect, Daniel Cuvet
I recently went to a Stanford vs Miami college baseball game, and I got to witness some great talent. But one prospect stood out among them all. His name is Daniel Cuvet and he plays for the Miami Hurricanes. At the time of writing this article, Cuvet is ranked the number 67th draft prospect in all of baseball. In this article, I’ll be telling you about what I saw from Daniel, giving him a player comparison to another current MLB player, and lastly, ranking his different tools (arm, speed, power, etc) on a scale from 20-80
For the ballgame, Daniel went 3-5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs. His two outs came on a line drive, and a deep fly ball to center field. So there is definitely some power there. On the fielding side, there was one groundball hit to him. He bobbled it at first, but then made a strong throw to still get the out. His fielding is subpar, but his arm is strong enough to stay at 3B, and I could see him playing a little bit of shortstop. He is not that fast of a runner with his top sprint speed being around 21 mph. However, I don’t see this being a hindrance to any team wanting to draft him. A good player comparison for Daniel would be Jake Burger on the Rangers. Both have good power, a good arm, but also have a moderately high swing and miss rate, and are not in the upper echelon in terms of speed.
Here are my scouting grades:
Hit: 50 | Power: 60 | Run: 40 | Arm: 55 | Field: 45 | Overall: 50
