What I Saw from Trevor Haskins at Stanford and an Update on Where He is Now

I recently went to a Stanford game, and I got to see ANOTHER MLB draftee play. Previously, I saw Rintaro Sasaki and Marek Houston, and now I’ll tell you what I thought of Trevor Haskins, and I will give you an update on what and how he’s doing now.

Who Is Trevor Haskins?

Position: SS/3B

Bats: Right

Throws: Right

Height: 6'1

Weight: 194

Age: 22

Born: 3/16/2003 in San Jose, CA

Draft by: St. Louis Cardinals

Round: 15

Overall Pick: 450

College: Stanford (2022-2025)

How Did He Do in His Senior Season at Stanford?

He started in 51 of Stanford's 52 games and batted .326 with 46 runs scored, 13 doubles, 14 home runs and 42 RBIs. Haskins led the team with 23 multi-hit games and 13 multi-RBI games, and he hit safely in all but eight of the games that he played in.

What Spot in the Draft Was He Drafted in?

Trevor Haskins was selected on Day 2 in the 15th round (No. 450) of the 2025 MLB Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. Am I the only one that notices that he went from the Stanford Cardinal to the St. Louis Cardinals?

Why Was He Drafted So Low?

You’re probably wondering why he was drafted so low considering his really good stats, and that’s a very good question. It’s probably because he got drafted as a senior in college so he lost all of his leverage because he couldn’t just go back to college, and teams thought they could scoop him up later in the draft without having to pay him a lot of money.

What Did I See from Trevor Haskins at Stanford?

In the game I saw, Trevor Haskins had a two-run homerun, and a 2B in 5 ABs. He also took a HBP (hit by pitch) off the back. He was a very talented fielder at the hot corner (3B). He took very good backroutes to baseballs hit to his left. Obviously, the bat needs to play, but don’t sleep on his defense. Haskins is also not a slow guy. Maybe not a 20+ base stealer, but maybe a 10+ base stealer. I’m not the biggest fan of these tidbits, but apparently he is a great clubhouse leader. Haskins also looked very comfortable at 3B and seems very versatile. I think he could also play middle infield if you needed him to. His eye at the plate was not great, and I think there is some potential for strikeout problems, but there is good raw power.

My scouting grades:

Hit: 55/80

Power: 60/80

Run: 50/80

Arm: 60/80

Field: 65/80

Overall: 55/80

AVG: .172

HR: 1

RBI’s: 3

SB: 0

OPS: .482

OPB: .172
