Giants Trade Catcher Patrick Baliey to Guardians
Per ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the San Francisco Giants have traded 2x Gold Glove winning catcher Patrick Baliey to the Cleveland Guardians for the 29th pick in this year’s draft and left-hander Matt Wilkinson.

According to Zach Meisel of The Athletic, to make room on the roster, the Guardians are optioning Bo Naylor to AAA.

7 News’ Ari Alexander reports that the Giants all calling up catcher Logan Porter to fill in what used to be Bailey’s spot.

Thoughts:
Are the Giants throwing in the towel? They might be. Trading away a 2x Gold Glover is not a signal that you are looking to win at any cost. However, Bailey has not been particularly good for the Giants hitting under .200 and slugging under .250. They are also getting Logan Porter some reps and the big league level. Getting a prospect like Matt Wilkinson should actually be exiting for Giants fans.
