My 2026 Wild Card Predictions
With the MLB playoff picture set, it is time for my second annual Wild Card predictions. I will predict the winner in how many games. Let’s get into it.
White Sox @ Astros:
Prediction: White Sox win in two games
With the Astros sneaking into the playoffs with a .500 record, the young White Sox club will probably take the series decently easily. There best winning chance is when Hunter Brown is on the mound in game 2.
Red Sox @ Yankees:
Prediction: Yankees win in two games
A 2025 wild card series rematch. The Yankees almost certainly win game one with their ace (and maybe Cy Young?) Schlittler on the bump, but the other two (three?) are complete toss ups.
Phillies @ Braves:
Prediction: Braves win in three games
The Phillies just stuck into the playoffs, while the Braves are the second division winner. The best the Phillies will probably do is make the Braves play an extra game.
Cubs @ Padres:
Prediction: Padres win in two games
This is another 2025 wild card series rematch. Cubs won the last won and, but I doubt they can do it again. The key for them will be to shorten up on two strikes versus the dominant Padres bullpen. However, I am a Cubs fan so I will hate if I am right.
