Revisiting My 5 Bold Predictions for the 2025 MLB Season
You might remember that at the start of the year I made 5 bold predictions for the season. Now that it's the end of the regular season, I’ll be giving them grades on how well I think I did. Let’s jump into it.
Matt Shaw will win ROY (Rookie Of the Year):
Not a bad prediction, but he’s not gonna win ROY. He might come top 5 so I give myself partial credit for this one. He also might win a gold glove.
Grade: B-
Roki Sasaki will not have a good Spring, and will spend most of the regular season in the minors:
Maybe the best prediction of the bunch. He was playing poorly then got injured. He ended the season with a 4.72 ERA, and (almost) a 1.50 WHIP. He didn’t spend time in the minors, but his outings were pretty horrific.
Grade: A-
The A’s will contend for a playoff spot:
Alright, alright, alright. You can stop laughing now. Hey, they did contend for a good while, and they did start the season off strong. Just faltered in July.
Grade: D+
Juan Soto will not have a good year, and will not get a single MVP vote:
Hmm. I’m not sure how I feel about this prediction. On one hand he is only batting .260, and has over 130 strikeouts. But on the other hand he has over 100 RBI’s and has over 40 HR’s. He might not get an MVP vote though.
Grade: B
Brent Rooker will win AL MVP:
Maybe not an MVP level season, but a strong one nevertheless. He got another All-Star nod this year. Might garner a few votes.
Grade: C+
