The Trade:
Phillies Acquire:
Jhoan Duran
Twins Acquire:
Eduardo Tait (C, MLB No. 56 on the top 100 prospect list)
Mick Abel (RHP, MLB No. 92 on the top 100 prospect list)
The Scouting Report:
We already know what Duran brings to the table (2.47 carrer ERA), but what about the two prospects? Here’s the report. When you look at Eduardo grades (Hit: 50 | Power: 60 | Run: 40 | Arm: 60 | Field: 45 | Overall: 55) what immediately jumps off the page? Probably his arm. His arm is elite, and his pop time is no different. As a 6 foot, 175 backstop, he could be moved to 1B, but he shouldn’t have any problems staying at catcher. He also has good power coordinated with his bat speed.
Mick has already had a taste of the big leagues. His grades (Fastball: 60 | Curveball: 55 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 45 | Overall: 55) pretty decent around the board, and his fastball can reach triple digits. The scouts also like his big body. (6’6 ft, 190 lbs) His curveball and slider sit at about low 80’s in MPH. There’s a good chance he can be a back end starter, or a multi inning reliever.
