Who Will Pay Big for Tarik Skubal?

If Dodgers pitcher Tarik Skubal reaches free agency, he could land one of the biggest contracts ever given to a pitcher. But which teams would actually be willing to spend that kind of money to sign one of baseball’s biggest stars? Let’s take a look at the top three teams that could make a serious run at Skubal.

1. Dodgers
The Dodgers would likely be one of the favorites to sign Skubal. Even if they don’t extend him before he reaches free agency, they have the financial resources to compete for his services. Los Angeles has shown a willingness to spend big to build a superteam, and adding Skubal would make an already dangerous roster even stronger for years to come.

2. Yankees
The Yankees are another strong contender. They already have an impressive rotation and are consistently involved in the market for top free agents. Signing Skubal would give their pitching staff another elite arm and strengthen their chances of making a deep postseason run. If the Dodgers decide not to pursue him, New York could be one of the first teams ready to make a move.

3. Cubs
The Cubs might be a dark horse in the Skubal sweepstakes, but they have both the financial flexibility and the motivation to make a serious offer. After being eliminated by the Padres 2-0 in the Wild Card round, Chicago could look to make a major move to get back into championship contention. President of Baseball Operations Jed Hoyer signing Skubal would be a massive statement to fans and could completely change the outlook of the Cubs’ roster.
